UNESCO-Chair of Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Management

Chairholder: Prof. Dr. Christine Volkmann

Establishment of the UNESCO Chair

The idea to apply for and initiate a UNESCO chair in “Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Management” was born in 2004 as a result of a collaboration between Westfälische Hochschule (University of Applied Science) Gelsenkirchen and the European Centre for Higher Education (UNESCO-CEPES). In connection with the conceptualization and the implementation of concrete projects, in particular in East Europe, Prof. Dr. Christine Volkmann was awarded the UNESCO chair for “Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Management” in 2005. After changing to the Schumpeter School of Business and Economics at the University of Wuppertal in 2008, she was again awarded the UNESCO chair in 2010. The UNESCO chair’s period was extended in 2018.
